This tastes a lot like fried rice, but my family likes it better than fried rice. Based off of this recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 cup white rice
- 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 4 cloves garlic, minced (can increase this if you really like garlic, I usually use about 6)
- 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
- 1/8 tsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp. rice vinegar (do not substitute another type of vinegar for this, if you don’t have it, leave it out)
Directions
- Thoroughly cook and cool the rice. This step is very important; it really does affect the flavor to cool it completely first.
- In large skillet, melt the butter over medium-low heat and stir fry the garlic until golden brown. (don’t burn or the dish will turn bitter)
- Add the dry mustard, garlic salt, and sugar. Wait until the sugar melts then add the cooked rice.
- Stir fry the rice for 2-3 minutes. Add soy sauce and rice vinegar. Stir thoroughly, serve when heated all the way through.
I have yet to try this with vegetables and eggs added in like fried rice, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.
